This project, organised by Annalisa Banzi in collaboration with the Associazione Italiana Donne Medico (AIDM) – Milan branch and the museum staff at Gallerie d’Italia Milano, offers an innovative approach to enhancing wellbeing through art and cultural engagement.
These workshops have been designed by the museum staff and are part of the cultural programme offered by Gallerie d’Italia
1. Sonic Inspirations
An immersive journey into sound, this workshop explores a kaleidoscope of unique instruments and auditory landscapes, both near and far, internal and external. Participants will experience the deep connection between art and sound, discovering the unexpected imaginative and sensory power of vibration and its positive impact on wellbeing, through selected works from the museum’s permanent collection.
2. Performing Museum
A one-of-a-kind sensory and emotional experience, combining artistic and theatrical elements to enhance the perception of exhibited artworks. Participants will first engage in an in-depth analysis of a piece from the permanent collection, followed by a theatrical workshop designed to deepen their connection with the artwork through performance.
3. Visual Poetry
This session explores a selection of 20th-century artworks, revealing how narrative and storytelling have been central themes for many artists. From Novelli and Perilli to Emilio Isgrò and his famous erasures, the workshop examines the interplay between language and the visual arts. In the second part of the session, participants will create their own visual poetry using the Caverdiage method.
4. One Artwork, Two Voices
An unconventional interpretation of museum artworks, led by a Civita cultural mediator in dialogue with a FAI expert. The first part of the session focuses on a historical and artistic analysis, while the second fosters a cross-cultural discussion, exploring how individuals from diverse backgrounds perceive and interpret art.
5. Art-Up
Developed in collaboration with Gallerie d’Italia – Milano and ART UP, this initiative engages young people with lived experiences of mental health challenges. The workshop promotes art as a powerful tool for self-reflection and dialogue, encouraging discussions on prejudice, diversity, and shared passions. With guidance from psychologists and art experts, participants will explore 19th- and 20th-century artworks, blending artistic insights with personal experiences to foster deeper emotional awareness.
6. Touching Allowed
A museum experience like no other—where sight is set aside in favour of hearing, touch, and smell. This workshop challenges visitors to experience art in a completely new way, offering a thought-provoking exploration of perception and communication. Designed to surprise and challenge those accustomed to relying on sight, this session provides a unique opportunity to discover alternative ways of experiencing a museum.
